Meet Milcah + Ben. You may remember them from their quaint english village engagement session a few weeks ago! It is a rare and significant honor to have a front row seat into people’s relationship, and I am so floored my friends Milcah + Ben entrusted me to capture their worshipful marriage union. Their story is my favorite, because it is all about God being the master at intertwining lives. A gentle British farmer and a compassionate Ethiopian princess meet in England, and despite all odds, they date long distance and end up getting married.
Right before the wedding dinner, the worship leader said it best, “Milcah and Ben wanted today to be a taste of what heaven will be like, all tongues, tribes, and nations worshiping together.” And truly it was that. I looked around to see all their friends and family with different accents and cultures and backgrounds, yet all singing with raised hands in adoration to the Lord and palms open to receive the gift of grace. It was a holy experience, the whole day- full of organic details, flower crowns, bowties, tweed, tea, greenery, homemade desserts, communion, praises on their lips, dancing, autumn colors, and an emphasis on comfort, simplicity, relaxation, emotion, giddiness, and celebration.
Milcah and Ben’s day displayed the sacredness of marriage. They have a huge heart for the nations and the gospel reaching the ends of the earth. I am rejoicing in this unstoppable partnership and the million little ways the Lord will use them. Congrats, MR. & MRS. TROUGHTON!
